The Miscarriage Association - making a positive difference to anyone affected by the loss of a baby in pregnancy

Around one in four pregnancies ends in miscarriage – an estimated 250,000 miscarriages per year in the UK.
Even though it's so common, it is still not well understood and we tend not to talk about it. That can make it a very unhappy, frightening and lonely experience.
It's unhappy because for many people, it's not "just a miscarriage", but the loss of their baby, their hopes and dreams.
It's frightening because it's usually unexpected, without an obvious cause and there's no guarantee that it won't happen in the next pregnancy. And it's lonely if family and friends don't understand the importance of listening and support.
The Miscarriage Association listens. We offer support and understanding; we explain medical language and provide clear and accurate information; and we help to raise awareness of the facts and feelings of miscarriage.
