Leukaemia Research

Last updated 4/14/2008 2:19:44 PM

Why research is vital

Currently 110,000 people live with a blood cancer in the UK and more will develop one in the future.

We are the only national charity devoted to researching those cancers – leukaemia, Hodgkin's and other lymphomas, myeloma and other blood disorders – and we aim to give everyone the best chance of survival.

Survival rates are increasing and treatments are improving for all cancer patients, particularly children affected by leukaemia. Thanks to nearly fifty years of investment in the very best research 8 out of 10 children now survive leukaemia. Previously only a few would be cured.

However we want to achieve so much more for patients of any age, whatever blood cancer they are affected by.

But that is possible only if we can fund the research. With your support we can help more people survive.
