Media Company Vivendi outshines again for teenage social network Starbright World
Starbright World is an online social network of a different kind. The network is a community of support for young people with chronic or terminal illnesses and their teenaged siblings.
The network was created by the Starlight Children's Foundation to enable teenagers to connect, socialise and establish relationships with other ill young people, has introduced new features to its site with the support of international media company Vivendi
The enhanced features on the site will keep it on par with other popular social networks with one-way video conferencing, webinar functionality, additional instant messaging capabilities and a music player.
For the past two years Vivendi, with businesses including television motion picture, radio and multimedia production, has supported the redesign of Starbright World with awards for its preproduction and production phases.
The new grant will also support 20/7 live chat hosting and site moderation as well as marketing and outreach to promote awareness and member recruitment.
Flavie Lemarchand-Wood, Vivendi's director of communications in North America. "Since our involvement, Starbright World has increased its membership by an estimated 42%. The Starbright World community is an incredible example of how technology and heart can bring the digital generation together in innovative ways."
Vivendi's Create Joy Fund awarded another contribution last year, which helped to update the site with the next social networking technology enabling members to connect with each other via chat, take part in virtual contests and games, and express themselves through stories, photos, videos, e-cards and personal profiles.
For over 25 years, Starlight Children's Foundation has helped children and their families cope with their pain, fear and isolation through entertainment, education and family activities. Starlight's programs distract children from their pain, help them better understand and manage their illnesses, and connect families facing similar challenges.
Through a network of chapters and offices, Starlight provides ongoing support to children, parents and siblings in all U.S. states and Canadian provinces with an array of outpatient, hospital-based and Web offerings. Programs are also delivered internationally through affiliates in Australia, Japan and the United Kingdom.
