Deep, fried insects or Peruvian guinea pigs don’t engender the astonished gasps of revulsion they once did – in fact travellers today are almost keen to try; to see if it really does taste like chicken.
The image of British holidaymakers sticking to fish and chips restaurants during holiday abroad is changing.
Thanks to accessible travel and media exposure, travellers are less hesitant to sample the weird and wonderful food types.
According to Paul Bondsfield, Marketing Manager at Explore, “Food is always going to be a key driver for the real traveller – it’s the fastest way to unlock the secrets of another culture, going to the markets, choosing and assessing the food, preparation and cooking and eating and the rituals that go with all these things make most cultures what they are.”
Whilst some Brits will always play safe where food is concerned, Explore finds that people who travel on its adventure holidays are by nature more bullish when it comes to food choices.
