RSPCA reunites pet cat Squeak with owner after more than two years
A pet owner is over the moon after been reunited with her much loved cat, who disappeared more than two years ago.
Helen Foden, from Birmingham, was stunned when she received a call from RSPCA Inspector Rebecca Cooper to say that the missing moggie, Squeak, was alive and well and on his way back home - thanks to a microchip that identified him.
"I was really shocked and thought it was a mistake," said Helen, who explained Squeak was her son's pet. "It is absolutely brilliant to have him back. He is exactly the same as he was before, it's almost like he hasn't been away."
Inspector Cooper was called to the cat in Foxton Road, Birmingham, where Squeak was found to be in a poor condition, with matted fur and fleas. He was taken him to Birmingham Animal Hospital at Barnes HiIl. It was discovered that he was microchipped, having actually been rehomed as a kitten by the RSPCA from Birmingham Animal Centre in May 2006.
Rebecca said: "This is the outcome we always hope for when we pick up a sick or injured pet but in reality not all animals are microchipped. Squeak's story is the ideal situation - where we can help an animal in need and then return it to its owner the same day."
Squeak's owner, Helen added: "To have our cat home after being missing for over two years is amazing."
