The New Childrens Hospital Appeal
The New Children's Hospital Appeal held a black tie gala dinner and dance at the Lowry Hotel to celebrate the launch of brand new limited edition book titled ‘The Dog' being sold to benefit the charity.
Renowned artist Harold Riley, who has been involved in the project that has seen four schools from across the globe contributing paintings of dogs, was joined by nearly 200 guests including Sir Alex Ferguson, Sir Bobby Charlton, event sponsor Stephen Daubney and his colleagues from The Woodford Group, Salford City Reds Chairman, John Wilkinson, Waterloo Road star Jason Done and former Coronation Street star Richard Fleeshman.
Cole Page performed at the event and he invited Richard Fleeshman up to give an impromptu performance while Key 103's Mike Toolan kindly hosted the evening.
Over £46,000 was raised on the night thanks to some fabulous auction prizes including dinner for ten in the private room at Piccolino's and a unique picture of a dog that was started by LS Lowry and completed by Mr Riley – the picture sold for £23,000 after Harold Riley told the story behind the painting and how he came to complete it.
Books are available, priced £10 plus postage and packaging, from the Appeal Team on (0161) 276 4522 or via http://www.newchildrenshospitalappeal.org.uk/
