Almost there... National Trust appeals for support as it nears its million pound target to buy Llyndy Isaf farm in Snowdonia

National Trust Llyndy Isaf Snowdonia farm appeal

It's won the support of Welsh-born  Brothers & Sisters star Matthew Rhys and now BBC presenter Kate Humble is  backing a last push by the national Trust to raise the remaining £100,000 needed to protect a breathtaking hill farm in Snowdonia.

Just seven months ago the Trust launched a million pound campaign to buy Llyndy Isaf - and now it has less than 2 months to raise the remaining funds needed.

Unless it reaches its goal, the Llyndy Isaf farm could be sold on the open market and lost to the nation for ever, the organisation says.

Richard Neale, the Trust's General Manager in Snowdonia explains: "We had such a fantastic response to the appeal – and we are nearly there. Donations have come flooding in and I'd like to thank everyone who helped us raise the £900,000. But, we have to raise the remainder or the farm will go onto the open market. This really is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to ensure that Llyndy Isaf keeps its centuries-old beauty and majesty.

"The land is an enticing prospect for those with an eye for commercial development as the lake could provide access for jet-skis and speedboats. We literally have a few months to save this tranquil and unspoilt haven for the nation. Today, I really want to appeal to all our members to help raise the remaining £100,000, before its too late."

Television presenter Kate Humble explains:  "The National Trust only needs another £100,000 to protect one of the UK's most spectacular and important countryside landscapes. So much work has been done on the farm over the years and it would be tragic if the rich and diverse wildlife was lost."
