The Motorola Solutions Foundation, the charitable arm of Motorola Solutions, Inc., today announced that it will provide $4.9 million in 2012 funding to U.S. science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education programs through its Innovation Generation grants program.

The annual program has distributed more than $25.5 million in grants since 2007 and has incorporated hundreds of Motorola Solutions employee volunteers through mentorship opportunities with grantees.

KEY FACTS

The Motorola Solutions Foundation's Innovation Generation grant program is designed to inspire students to learn about science and generate interest in science-related careers.

The grant will be allocated by two categories:

teachers.

Grant requests must be between $15,000 and $60,000 for projects that start after June 2012.
National Partnership Grants support large-scale, multi-regional STEM education programs that impact at least 150 primary participants.

Grant requests must be between $50,000 and $250,000 for projects that start after June 2012. Projects may last up to one year.

Matt Blakely, director, Motorola Solutions Foundation says "The Innovation Generation grants truly have become a part of our culture at Motorola Solutions. Our network of grantees, often times mentored by our own employees, has accomplished unbelievable strides in encouraging and facilitating STEM experiences in the U.S. We are thrilled to open the applications for this program for the sixth consecutive year, adding to our network of grantees and supporting another year of interactive STEM programming."
