Man hires cinema for romantic movie proposal in underpants
As marriage proposals go, it's a blockbuster way of asking someone to marry you. A love-struck boyfriend has made a five minute film, hired a cinema and surprised his partner by playing the cinematic proposal on the big screen.
Pete Simson, 26, from Bristol, hired the city's Watershed cinema to pop the question to trainee solicitor, Hannah McDonagh, 25. She thought she was going to see an arty film for her birthday, but was treated to the unusual marriage proposal instead.
"I wanted to propose in a way that was thoughtful but I have never taken myself very seriously so a romantic meal wouldn't be in keeping with my character," Pete said.
The radio station employee appeared in front of the camera in a variety of colourful pants dancing in front of many West Country landmarks.
He was seen writhing on a bed, looking wistfully over a cliff top and walking along a beach as he mimed to the ballad If You're Not The One, by Daniel Bedingfield. As part of his plan Pete organised for the cinema's and other customers to be in on the act.
As the short film ended a spotlight came on and he got down on one knee. A delighted Hannah accepted, to a round of applause. "The film looked awesome, really professional on the big screen," she said. "It was hilarious."
Maybe they can get married Romeo and Juliet Style?
