Irish Software Company Goshido Goes For Gold Using Social Media
At time of doom and gloom in Ireland’s economy, Irish company, Goshido has taken the use of social media in business to a whole new level.
Technology company, Goshido, raised €162,500 in just 8 days when they sent out 700 emails via business social network, LinkedIn. This generated over 200 replies via phone, email and Twitter from places as diverse as Tokyo to Silicon Valley.
The company is selling off 10 slots to investors at €25,000 each – each equivalent to a 2 per cent stake in the company.
Executive chairman, Frank Hannigan, who joined the company in October and has taken one of the investment slots, called the response “an amazing result”. He said it showed businesses could exploit the potential of LinkedIn, which was about more than just contacts and recruitment.
“I’m blown away by it and it gives the lie to people who say social networking is just about Facebook.”
Goshido was originally set up in 2008 by Ger Hartnett and provides a software package to manage projects in more dynamic and structured way. The product is initially aimed at software development, media and games developers, whose projects have long and complex development processes that need to be clearly spelled out for all those working on the project.
Goshido plans to raise an additional €200,000 from Enterprise Ireland this year.
