Iceland’s recent financial crisis has boosted its image as popular travel destination according to Eye for Image agency.
Interest in visiting the country has increased since the global banking crisis hit last autumn.
Flight bookings for Iceland’s flagship carrier, Icelandair, this summer are already much better than expected.
The weakness of the Iceland’s krona is also a major factor for its popularity as this year’s summer destination.
A study conducted in February amongst the British, Germans and Danish reveals that Iceland is perceived as a high standard nature destination, hospitable and charming.
Iceland was declared bankrupt last October during the global credit crunch crisis.
According to Eye for Image, Iceland’s image did not suffer as a result of the financial collapse because “any publicity is good publicity”.
