RSPCA staff learn Polish to communicate with collie dog
RSPCA staff who were struggling to make a dog understand basic commands are able to communicate with him after realising he only knows Polish.
The team at the RSPCA centre in Oldham, Greater Manchester, assumed Cent the collie was deaf, but a little investigation into his history revealed that he originally came from a Polish family.
Impressively, the staff have spent months learning Polish commands from the Internet. Alongside the Polish, they've taught the collie the English versions of them so Cent is now bilingual.
"We've learnt a few basic ones which are sit - siad - and come - do mnie - and he seems to understand what we're saying," one explained.
Cent is awaiting a new home after being in the kennels for about four months. Prospective adopters have been assured however that they do not need to speak Polish.
