Frank Lampard Bites Back With Hat Trick

The oldest saying in sport is that form is temporary but class permanent and Frank Lampard is the latest to prove the point.

Watched by England manager Fabio Capello the 33 year old Chelsea mid field player made nonsense of the recent criticism by snatching a hat trick to confirm his place in the England squad to face Montenegro on Friday night in a crunch game to qualify for the Euro 2012.

It was only a couple of weeks ago that Lampard was squirming on the bench and being written off for both club and country by his critics.

The eternal optimist refused to buckle and, coming back to top fitness, he popped in three goals against hapless Bolton Wanderers in a 5-1 rout in the North of England.

The performance left new Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas in no doubt about the true value of his England mid field player, saying;

"Frank Lampard was excellent. He arrived with perfect timing in the box.

"His talent is without question. He had a good solid performance and his numbers are as good as ever."

It was his third hat trick for Chelsea in the Premier League and his fifth in all, confirming him as one of the Premier League's best mid field goalscorer.

"There is only one way to answer the critics," he said," When people say negative things , you have to keep going and keep working hard and this was a day when it all came for me."

Clearly Lampard enjoys his partnership with Didier Drogba who was also returned to the side by the Portuguese manager and although he didn't score, Daniel Sturridge scored the other two, he slotted in perfectly with Lampard and the expensive and suspended Fernando Torres could well have a quiet word with the Londoner.

He could explain that class is permanent!
