Fit2Fat2Fit - personal trainer Drew Manning deliberately puts on weight to better understand his clients

It's said you have to walk in another man's shoes to truly understand his experiences and American personal trainer Drew Manning is doing just that -  deliberately gaining 70lb in order to better empathise with his clients.

Drew plans to inspire those who turn to him for advice. He's ditched his muscular physique and embraced obesity for a year-long experiment, hoping that such extreme measures would allow him to experience the challenges of weight-loss first-hand.

He achieved his new body by cutting out all exercise and and enjoying crisps, soda, pizza and other calorie-packed items. Having piled on the pounds he's reverting to his usual diet and exercising again.

"I just kept hearing from people that I didn't know what it was like to be fat. I didn't know what it was like to have cravings, etc," Drew explained. "I realised I didn't and I thought I could go through it and inspire others. It was fun at first to eat whatever I wanted, but the ramifications and how my body feels is definitely not."He added:  "I'm a little afraid that it'll take longer then I hope, just because I gained more weight then I planned.  But I know with my determination and everyone's support it'll happen."
