Fairsharemusic.com - New Virgin Group music download site will support charities

A new download site from the non-profit foundation of the Virgin Group - Virgin Unite - is enabling music fans to download tracks with half the profit going to a chosen charity.

Fairsharemusic.com offers over over 16 million tracks, with prices starting at 79p per track.

Co-founder of Fairsharemusic.com, Lee Cannon said "We've make it simple for people to give directly to a cause through something they're passionate about - you download, we donate. Music is the soundtrack to our lives, so why not use it to improve the lives of others?"

Virgin Unite aims to unite people to tackle tough social and environmental problems in an entrepreneurial way. Its aim, it explains is to help revolutionise the way businesses, governments and the social sector join forces – driving business as a force for good.  This is based on the belief that this is the only way we can tackle the scale and urgency of the challenges facing the world today. Virgin Unite's overheads are covered by Sir Richard Branson and the Virgin Group, meaning that 100% of additional donations received go direct to the frontline where they are needed most.

Jean Oelwang, CEO Virgin Unite said "Virgin Unite is committed to ensuring that funds donated give marginalised young people the opportunity for a brighter future."
