Japanese car manufacturer Toyota's education programme T-TEP has set up a new training college in the Netherlands adding to the 450-plus educational institutions it has around the world.

The college, ROC Mondriaan, based in The Hague will also be supported by a local Toyota distributor. In addition, the automotive department at ROC Zadkine in Rotterdam has been presented with a new Toyota AYGO vehicle to be used in T-TEP training activities.

T-TEP was started by Toyota in 1990 with the goal of closing the gap between industry and education by providing support for technical education and to improve the image of skilled technical professions through direct and indirect communication.
Each institution receives new learning tools from Toyota each year, including new Toyota models, as well as information about Toyota's latest automotive technologies.

Teachers also have the opportunity to receive training from Toyota, while the educational institutions are regularly invited to presentations and seminars organised by Toyota.

In another global effort, the Toyota-WWF Pandamobile has completed 50 carbon-neutral exhibition days and visited 30 towns in seven countries since it was commissioned in July 2008

The Pandamobile, a specially fitted Toyota Dyna truck, is utilised in WWF's Climate Change Roadshow which aims to raise awareness of climate change and to educate people that they have a vital and urgent role to play in minimising carbon dioxide emissions.

The vehicle is fitted with four 85 watt solar panels and a 300 watt wind turbine. Together the panels and turbine generate enough energy to power the Pandamobile's DVD player, large screen television, computers, sound system and other equipment for two days.

WWF is offsetting the carbon dioxide generated when the vehicle is driven to different venues by supporting the extension of a wind-farm in Turkey.
