Badminton News - Nathan Roberts looks towards London 2012 Olympic Games
Nathan Robertson, famous for his badminton exploits with Gail Emms, continued his climb up the world rankings with his latest partner Jenny Wallwork when they won the mixed doubles title at the Swedish International in Stockholm.
This was a massive boost to their Olympic qualifying hopes and they can expect to move up from 22nd in the world rankings as they chase their Anglo-Scottish rivals Chris Adcock and Imogen Bankier who are currently 14th in the world, but could only reach the semi-finals in Sweden.
The Commonwealth silver medallists, overcame Denmark's Mads Pieler Kolding and Julie Houmann 21-17 21-17 in the final.
Britain collected a second title with Mariana Agathangelou and Heather Olver when they outplayed Eva Lee and Paula Lynn Obanana in the women's doubles final.
The veteran Robertson, 34, and Wallwork, 25, were contesting their first international final since the Swiss Open last March after suffering a poor run of form towards the end of 2011.
But they dominated Denmark's fourth seeds as they dominated in both sets to earn a comfortable , stress free victory.
Agathangelou and Olver were held by the Americans up to 7-7 in the opening game before the second seeds eased away to take the opener on their first game point.
It was a similar pattern in the second game with the England pair pushing on from 5-5 to secure the title on their first match point and add another title to this season's Bulgarian Open success.
