Usain Bolt set to make his debut over 400 metres at home in Jamaica

We are about to find out just how good the phenomenal Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt will be over a full lap of the track.

The Olympic and world 100m and 200m champion and record holder Bolt will make his 2010 track comeback over the full lap on his home track in Jamaica on Saturday 13 February.

Many experts believe that Bolt will eventually find his best form at the longer distance despite his miraculous achievements over the two shorter sprints.

The 23-year-old superstar who has restored faith in the drug addled world of track and field usually starts his season over 200 metres to ease himself from training into racing. His last run was in winning the 200m in September's IAAF finals in Greece.

Bolt has also confirmed he will compete over 100m in the Diamond League meeting in New York on 12 June. It is a significant date as it will be his first competition in the United States since he set his first world record at the same meeting in 2008.

However his diary is still far from complete and it has still to be revealed whether the race will be his first of his seven Diamond League appearances with the inaugural Diamond League circuit beginning in Doha on 14 May and before New York there are three other meetings in Shanghai (23 May), Oslo (4 June) and Rome (10 June).

"New York was the site of my first world record, the track is lightning fast and the fans, well, they sat through an entire thunderstorm in 2008 just to watch the 100m so I know they appreciate speed," said Bolt.

"I am looking forward to returning to the Big Apple in June." Bolt will be the sport's biggest attraction this summer with his relaxed approach and his startling times seemingly achieved without him putting the accelerator pedal right to the floor.
