Caring for Cats - Helping People
Yorkshire ranks No. 2 for animal cruelty in England & Wales. If you think this needs to change you are already on our side!
We need your help to create West Yorkshire's first major cat rehoming centre and feral sanctuary to give more cats and kittens a safe haven and the second chance they deserve regardless of their age.
Haworth Cat Rescue has a no-kill policy and we currently rescue and re-home between 375 and 400 cats each year. Yet we know this represents less a third of known calls for help.
Due to the high demand for our services, we constantly operate a long waiting list, and have to decline an immediate place to many of the cats referred to us. This is a heart-breaking situation because by the time a pen is free it is often too late.
Take little Sherlock. He was one of the lucky ones, found abandoned in a stable at two days old. Without the dedicated, round the clock nursing of our foster carers he would be dead.
Or Feather. Together with her mum Cheyanne and her siblings, dumped anonymously in a cardboard box at our centre early one morning. The kittens were so badly infested with fleas that Feather who was the littlest, almost died of anaemia.
Or Tramp. Left behind when his owners moved and in a terrible state when he was found. A lovely, friendly cat who will be wonderful friend and companion for somebody.
Or Lois. A little black cat found straying on a busy estate. Underweight with gastro intestinal problems and patches of fur missing she was badly flea-ridden – aged 14, it was touch and go whether she would survive.
