F.R.O.D.O. – Foundation for the Relief of Disabled Orphans

F.R.O.D.O. works with both other charities and local authorities in developing countries to identify orphans and abandoned children with disabilities and life-threatening illness and then provide access to treatment through a variety of programmes.
Disabled orphans in developing countries too often become the forgotten.
Tucked away in remote corners of the country, these children are often housed in institutions with no love, little care and not much else. For their disabilities there is often little in the way of additional help. Abandoned children with disabilities and life-threatening illness receive little or no care, which causes a deterioration of their medical condition, aggravates their sense of hopelessness and damages their self image.
To make a difference to the lives of this vulnerable group of children F.R.O.D.O. has developed a series of medical programmes. The programmes started life in Romania where they have proven to be a great success; giving hope back to children with disabilities and life-threatening illness. Our long term aim is to take our activities into Albania, Moldova and remote, poor areas of Russia and begin to see a real difference in the lives of so many more vulnerable children.
Current programmes include: Treatment & Training; Centre for Hydrocephalus Control; One Child at a Time; Physiotherapy Support; Institutional Transformation; Abandonment Prevention; F.R.O.D.O. Fellowship.
