Never too old for love Henry Kerr 97 marries Valerie Berkowitz 87
You're never too old love – just ask 97-year-old Henry Kerr, who has married his 87-year-old sweetheart Valerie Berkowitz after four years of wooing her.
Their love was sealed at a special ceremony at their residential home in Golders Green, north London, witnessed by 80 guests.
Valerie apparently burst into hysterical laughter when Henry asked her. But she accepted his proposal after he told her he wouldn't ask her again.
"I thought to myself, how ridiculous, how could she react to a silly old codger like me?" Henry explained. "And quite casually one day I said to her, more out of curiosity really, I said, 'What would you say if I asked you to marry me'? She burst into hysterical laughter, put down her head on the table and laughed till tears ran down her face."
Valerie said she had fallen for Henry's wooing of her, which had included poetry. "I thought, I'll accept," she explained. "And I said, the marriage is on."
