Optimist World launches its Charity Awards with HSBC Amanah as sponsor

Optimist World prides itself on being the definitive source for good news and today launches its Charity Awards to honour the amazing work undertaken by UK fundraisers and small to medium sized UK-registered charities.

With over 150,000 small to medium sized charities registered in the UK alone, the Optimist Charity Awards is offering all charities with a turnover of up to £1million, the opportunity to compete for the Optimist Charity of the Year Award.

Each week at least five charities will be featured on the site, with one voted into the finals by the public until the ultimate event which takes place on January 18th 2010.

The awards offer entrants the chance to win a substantial cash donation and global recognition for the great work that they do.

As the country faces difficult economic times, many companies have been forced to tighten their purse strings, with charity donations often the first budget to be cut. But green shoots are appearing and Optmistworld.com is delighted to find that large corporations such as HSBC Amanah are providing their much-needed support.

HSBC Amanah has become the first sponsor , saying: "We are proud to support The Optimistworld.com Charity Awards and celebrate the amazing work that small charities undertake every day. "These people are the unsung heroes of this world and we feel that it's essential that even during economic uncertainty, we continue to support important causes that make such a vital difference."

Knowing only too well the importance of charity support, Optimistworld.com founder Achim Kram says: "Optimistworld.com was created with the mission of spreading positivity across the world. Every day, ordinary people are doing extraordinary things; whether it's a mum raising money through a sponsored walk or a group of teenagers sitting in a bath of baked beans!

"We want to recognise all of these inspirational people, as well as the charities, for the amazing work that they do, as without their help and the generous support from companies like HSBC Amanah, smaller charities would not be able to continue with the vital, often life-changing services they offer."

Resources for Autism is one of the charities already nominated and as Liza Dresner, Director, comments: "We're delighted to be nominated for the Optimist Award. Parents, staff and friends of the organisation were inspired to vote and all of us were thrilled that the optimism we feel regarding the services we offer, and the positive difference we make was recognised in such a fun way."

Fundraisers are also invited to apply for the Optimist Fundraiser of the Year Award which will reward the altruistic efforts of two particularly inspirational individuals with prizes of £500 donated to their charity of choice.

All entrants can register online at: http://optimistworld.com/Charities.aspx -  The deadline for application is November 1st, 2009, however spaces are limited and will be filled on a first come first served basis.

Good luck!
