Jack Laugher is World Junior Champion - GB Diving produce another world class diver

World Junior Champion Jack Laugher made history on the penultimate day of the FINA World Junior Championships in Arizona by claiming gold in both Springboard events.

Earlier in the competition the Harrogate diver, who is part of the British Diving Team, powered by British Gas, at the 18th FINA World Junior Diving Championships, became Britain's first World Junior Champion since 1999.

Tom Daley has clearly set new standards for the young British diver and he is now joined by the Yorkshire boy who clearly stated his case for the future.

The 15 year old Laugher added 3m Springboard gold to the 1m title he won on Friday and has become the first British Diver to win Double World Junior titles with his impressive performances in the USA.

Laugher went into the final ranked in first place with a lead of thirty points and he took to the 3m Springboard with absolute confidence.

Laugher secured good scores throughout the rounds but left his best for last and scored a total of 78.00 points for his final dive.

The British teenager won his second gold medal with a total score of 483.60 points ahead of Mexico's Andres Villarreal Tudon who took silver a long way back with 469.20 points and Aisen Chen (China) who took bronze in 460.50.

Laugher's teammate Josh Dowd finished in a creditable sixth place with a score of 424.60.

In the girl's 10m Platform Megan Sylvester finished in eighth place with a total score of 376.70.

Oliver Dingley finished in 11th place in the 1m Springboard after finishing with a score of 462.95. Hannah Starling and Grace Reid took 257.31 points to secure eighth place in the 3m Synchro.
