Samsung Electronics education programme shows horizon to a new IT generation

Samsung Electronics will train, develop and update the IT skills of 100 young people in Saudi Arabia from the ages of 14 to 19 years under a student program, from Al-Bir Society at the New Horizons Institute.

New Horizons is an independent IT training institution, chosen by Samsung Electronics to support these students for a career in this sector. Samsung's initiative includes sponsoring 50 boys and 50 girls from Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam for a period of approximately a year, where they will receive training from certified and highly-trained instructors.

Gye Choon Cho, general manager of Samsung Electronics, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia said: "This CSR program is to help, prepare and train these ambitious individuals on the modern, technical skills and receive the necessary know-how to enter the work environment and begin to set forth their career goals".

Samsung Electronics –Saudi Arabia employees will also contribute to the development and education of the students by sharing expertise via a volunteer program. It will also enable participative management and student training. Each month, one department head and Samsung employees will visit New Horizons Institute, and present the students with a lecture on the area of their expertise.

The program will end with a graduation ceremony and will be attended a number of officials from Samsung Electronics and Al-Bir Society.

There will also be employment opportunities for the students at Samsung Electronics and their partners within KSA through a job placement program that falls under New Horizons.
