Baby Pigeons Rescue - Scottish SPCA Wildlife Centre taking care
An animal welfare charity has come to the rescue of a box full of baby pigeons found on a doorstep in Scotland.
The baby pigeons are now being cared for at Scottish SPCA's Wildlife Rescue Centre near Dunfermline in Fife. The unusual package greeted a householder when he opened his front door in Clackmannanshire and found the box of 22 baby birds.
Scottish SPCA Inspector John Chisholm said: "It's possible that someone has cut down a hedge or repaired a roof in an old building without realising there has been nesting birds.
"The gentleman who found them keeps ducks so it may be that whoever collected the nestlings knew this and thought that he might be able to rear them. However, the best ones to rear baby birds are their parents and they should not have been disturbed."
He added: "People should be aware that under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 all birds nests are protected so it is actually an offence to intentionally or recklessly disturb an active nest."Anyone considering external house repairs or tree work should ensure that the area is free of nesting birds before attempting any work."
We have SO many more baby stories - human or animals - these are just some examples:
