Air New Zealands naked inflight safety video Bare Essentials
It was designed to get air passengers to concentrate on an inflight safety video, but Air New Zealand's film featuring cabin crew wearing nothing more than body paint has attracted a massive global internet audience.
The compny's Bare Essentials safety video is showing on 737 domestic flights, with the briefing featuring Air New Zealanders in cheeky body painted uniforms.
It's achieved more than three million views on YouTube in little over a week - becoming the third most viewed video globally on YouTube, even surpassing Michael Jackson's final rehearsal footage.
Bare Essentials is a fresh new twist in the airline's hugely successful Nothing to Hide ad campaign, which has been viewed by more than two million people on YouTube. See the video for yourself here on Optimist TV
Air New Zealand General Manager Marketing Steve Bayliss says: "Safety is paramount and non-negotiable at Air New Zealand, and we wanted to find a way to deliver these important pre-flight messages to our domestic travellers in a way that was genuine, engaging and fun, while meeting all our CAA and operational guidelines."
Mr Bayliss says the genuine, fun and engaging approach taken by Air New Zealand to its in-flight safety briefing had clearly resonated with both customers and media.
"We have been absolutely stunned by the massive international interest in our in-flight safety briefing, with the New York Times, CNN, BBC, the Telegraph and Channel Seven Australia among those news outlets running articles," he explained.
