2008 Green Awards for creativity in sustainability
The Green AwardsTM will be held for the third time in November in London celebrating the efforts of the communications industry on raising awareness the sustainability through environmental, ethical or social campaigns.
Entries are now open for this year's Awards in 13 categories which now includes two new categories:
‘Campaigner of the Year' and ‘International Campaign' – closing date is September 17. The ‘Campaigner of the Year' category aims to demonstrate the creativity and commitment of individuals who have been able to make an impact from using their own contacts and a very little budget compared to mainstream brands.
Iain Patton, managing director of Satellite-The Green Agency founder/producers of the Awards believes that the communications industry is taking sustainability seriously. He added: "We think that creative work that drives responsible consumption and resource efficiency is essential if we are to achieve a more sustainable future".
The 2008 judging panel, which includes inventor Trevor Baylis, Rufus Radcliffe head of arketing Channel 4 and designer Katharine Hamnett, will look at design and media along with sustainability of approach and messaging.
The judging panel will be chaired by Baroness Peta Buscombe, chief executive of the Advertising Association who will challenge the panel on work meeting environmental standards and setting high standards for advertising, marketing and promotional work.
Baroness Buscombe said, "Too often environmental language is not accessible. Environmental solutions are essential to this and future generations, and our industry can play a powerful role overcoming communications barriers - it is our specialty".
